Prof. Dr. M. A. Rashid is a distinguished physician, social entrepreneur, and philanthropist dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable and underserved members of society. A renowned cardiologist and former CEO of Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital and Research Institute, Dr. Rashid has combined his professional experience in healthcare with a deep commitment to social welfare and community development.
Driven by his firsthand experience of the challenges faced by elderly people—particularly loneliness, social isolation, and inadequate family support—Dr. Rashid envisioned a place where senior citizens and children could live together in a safe, caring, and dignified environment. This vision led to the establishment of Amader Bari (Integrated Old & Children Home) in Jashore.
Under his leadership, Amader Bari has developed as a unique social welfare initiative that brings elderly people and children under one supportive community. The organisation provides accommodation, healthcare and nursing support, educational assistance, recreational activities, and opportunities for residents to remain active and socially engaged.
Dr. Rashid also founded the GMSS Foundation, a non-profit organisation through which various social development initiatives are carried out. Amader Bari was jointly developed by the Ministry of Social Welfare and GMSS Foundation and formally began its journey in September 2022.
His philosophy is rooted in the belief that every person deserves dignity, care, companionship, and the opportunity to live in an environment that feels like home. Through Amader Bari, he continues to work toward creating a compassionate community where generations can live, learn, support one another, and experience a sense of belonging.
