Promoting Cleanliness Through Children’s Participation: A Regular Initiative at Amader Bari

A weekly initiative by the children of Amader Bari to promote a clean environment, healthy living, and the development of responsible citizens.

Building Cleanliness Habits from Childhood

Cleanliness is one of the fundamental elements of a healthy, orderly, and fulfilling life. A clean environment contributes to physical well-being and mental comfort while fostering a sense of responsibility, discipline, and awareness. It is particularly important to teach children the value of cleanliness from an early age and encourage them to practise it in their daily lives.

With this goal in mind, the children of Amader Bari (Integrated Old and Children Home) regularly participate in cleaning activities within the premises every Saturday. Through this initiative, they help maintain the cleanliness of the courtyard and surrounding areas while developing a sense of responsibility and care for their living environment.

Children’s Active Participation in Cleaning Activities

As part of their regular weekly activities, the children of Amader Bari take part in cleaning the premises. This practice of keeping their living spaces and courtyard clean helps them develop positive habits that can benefit them throughout their lives.

These activities teach children that maintaining cleanliness is not solely someone else’s responsibility; rather, everyone has a role to play in keeping their surroundings clean and pleasant. By cleaning their environment, caring for their surroundings, and working together, they gain valuable practical life skills.

We believe that children’s holistic development requires more than formal education. They also need opportunities to learn through practical experiences and participate in activities that encourage social responsibility. The regular cleaning initiative at Amader Bari is part of this broader commitment.

A Clean Environment for Healthy Living

A clean environment helps reduce the spread of germs and minimise various health risks. Maintaining a hygienic living environment is particularly important in an institution where children and elderly residents live together.

At Amader Bari, regular cleaning activities help keep the courtyard and indoor surroundings clean, organised, and pleasant. These activities also help children become more conscious of the importance of cleanliness and develop the ability to work cooperatively with others.

A clean living environment creates a more comfortable atmosphere for everyone. Therefore, we view cleanliness not merely as a routine task but as an essential part of promoting healthy living and developing responsible behaviour.

Learning Responsibility, Discipline, and Human Values

Children develop more fully when they have opportunities to learn essential life skills alongside their academic education. Participating in cleaning activities allows them to practise important qualities such as punctuality, mutual cooperation, discipline, and shared responsibility.

The goal of Amader Bari is not limited to providing children with safe accommodation and care. We also strive to create a supportive environment where they can grow, develop positive habits, and prepare themselves to become responsible individuals in the future.

We believe that small habits developed during childhood can lead to significant changes later in life. A child who learns to keep their own courtyard clean today may grow into an environmentally conscious individual who contributes to maintaining cleanliness at home, in the community, and throughout society.

Amader Bari: A Combined Commitment to Care, Education, and Humanity

Amader Bari (Integrated Old and Children Home) is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Social Welfare and GMSS Foundation. Alongside providing a caring, safe, and welcoming environment for children and elderly residents, the institution places importance on practical life education and the development of positive habits.

The children’s regular Saturday cleaning activities are a meaningful example of this ongoing commitment. Their participation helps keep the institution’s courtyard clean while teaching them to take responsibility for their surroundings.

We aspire to help every child at Amader Bari grow up with a strong sense of cleanliness, discipline, cooperation, and compassion. We also hope that their small but meaningful efforts will inspire others to keep their homes, educational institutions, workplaces, and surrounding areas clean.

Let Us Develop the Habit of Cleanliness

Building a clean society is a shared responsibility. By keeping our homes, courtyards, and surroundings clean and teaching children the importance of cleanliness, we can all contribute to creating a healthier and more pleasant society.

The regular initiative undertaken by the children of Amader Bari reminds us that meaningful change can begin right where we are.

Let us make cleanliness an integral part of our daily lives and work together to create a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful environment for future generations.
